QUETTA:

Director General Excise and Taxation Muham-mad Ayub Hazara has announced that the Balochistan government has initiated a one-month free vehicle and motorcycle registration campaign across the province.

He said special desks have been established in all excise offices for public convenience. These desks will remain operational seven days a week, including Fridays, Satur-days, and Sundays.

He explained that the scheme was proposed to Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti after a sharp rise in petroleum prices. Many vehicle owners in Quetta and other parts of Balochistan had not registered their cars and motorcycles in their names, making them ineligible for the announced fuel subsidy.

Following the proposal, the Chief Minister approved a one-month free registration package, which officially began on April 6.

Under the scheme, citizens only have to pay for the smart card and number plate. The smart card fee is Rs2,250 while the number plate costs Rs1,800.
