MIANWALI:

Flood-like conditions have emerged in the Kundal Chhrawala area of Isa Khel after a surge in the River Kurram, with water entering hundreds of homes and submerging thousands of acres of standing crops.

Authorities said, continuous heavy rainfall, particularly over the past three days, has worsened the situation, leaving hundreds of residents stranded in floodwaters for a second consecutive day.

Rescue 1122 teams have been actively engaged in relief operations.

On the first day, 205 people were shifted to safer locations, while an additional 29 stranded individuals were rescued on the following day. The operation remains ongoing.

A total of 60 rescuers, equipped with six boats, five ambulances, and other rescue vehicles, are taking part in the operation.

In a separate incident, an 18-year-old boy, Zafar Iqbal, was swept away by a strong water current while attempting to cross a stream in the Kundal area. However, the Rescue 1122 water rescue team responded swiftly and managed to save his life.

The flooding has caused widespread devastation in Kacha Kundal, where water has entered residential areas and submerged large tracts of ready wheat crops.
