Textbook shortage hits Danish School
Hundreds of students deprived of free books amid alleged administrative lapses

Hundreds of female students at Danish School in Hafizabad are reportedly being deprived of free textbooks, raising concerns about disruption to their education in the ongoing academic session.
Despite being one of the largest educational institutions in the district, with around 1,800 students enrolled, the school has yet to receive government-issued textbooks, according to sources within the institution.
Reports suggest that the delay is allegedly linked to administrative lapses, procedural hurdles, and possible favoritism on the part of district education authorities, including the office of the CEO Education.
As a result, students have been unable to keep pace with their studies, leading to significant academic loss.
Parents have expressed strong concern over the situation, stating that they cannot afford to purchase costly textbooks from the open market amid rising inflation. They said the government's promise of providing free educational materials has not been fulfilled, placing an additional burden on families already facing economic challenges.
School sources noted that while the institution meets high standards set by the government of Punjab, including merit-based admissions, modern infrastructure, and advanced learning facilities such as computer and science laboratories, the absence of basic textbooks has created a major gap in the learning process.
Allegations have also surfaced that district education officials are prioritising other schools over the institution, despite its large student population. This perceived neglect has further intensified concerns among parents and the school administration.
Parents, citizens, and school authorities have urged higher officials in the education department to take immediate notice of the issue and ensure the prompt supply of textbooks so that academic activities can continue without further disruption.
They have also called for a transparent inquiry into the delay to determine responsibility. If negligence or misconduct is established, they demanded strict action against those involved to prevent recurrence of such issues in the future.
