Apple TV+ has unveiled a gripping teaser trailer for its highly anticipated remake of ‘Cape Fear,’ promising to bring a fresh, chilling spin to the classic psychological thriller. The limited series stars Amy Adams, Patrick Wilson, and Javier Bardem, with a powerhouse creative team including Martin Scorsese, who directed the 1991 film, and Steven Spielberg as executive producer.

The story follows married attorneys Anna and Tom Bowden, played by Adams and Wilson, whose lives spiral into chaos when Max Cady, the convicted killer they helped imprison, is released from prison and seeks vengeance. Bardem embodies the menacing Cady, delivering a performance that the trailer suggests will be both terrifying and intense.

‘Cape Fear’ has a long legacy, originally adapted from John D. MacDonald’s 1957 novel, ‘The Executioners.’ It first became a film in 1962 with Gregory Peck and Robert Mitchum and was famously remade in 1991 by Scorsese. The new series aims to expand the story into a 10-episode format, allowing deeper character development and more sustained suspense than the previous films.

The series is showrun by Nick Antosca, known for ‘Antlers’ and ‘Channel Zero,’ with direction on the pilot by Morten Tyldum. Production is led by UCP, a division of Universal Studio Group, in collaboration with Amblin Television. Executive producers Alex Hedlund, Darryl Frank, and Justin Falvey also contribute, alongside Antosca and Tyldum. Supporting cast members include Joe Anders, Lily Collias, Malia Pyles, and CCH Pounder.

Early reactions to the trailer highlight its atmospheric tension and cinematic quality, with many praising the careful balance of homage to the original films and modern storytelling. Fans can expect a mix of suspense, psychological drama, and edge-of-your-seat thrills as the Bowdens confront their past and Cady’s relentless pursuit of revenge.

The first two episodes will premiere on June 5, 2026.
