Tubi adds 250 ‘Sesame Street’ episodes for free streaming

Tubi is bringing 250 episodes of ‘Sesame Street’ to its free service, letting kids and parents stream

Tubi is expanding its family-friendly offerings with a major addition of Sesame Street episodes. Starting April 1, the free streaming service will offer 250 episodes spanning from the series’ debut in 1969 up to season 38, featuring beloved characters such as Elmo, Cookie Monster, Big Bird, and more.

Highlights include the very first episode, ‘Gordon Introduces Sally to Sesame Street,’ the 1988 wedding episode ‘Maria and Luis Get Married,’ the 1980 sci-fi-themed visit of R2-D2 and C-3PO, and the 1978 on-location adventure ‘Big Bird Goes to Hawaii’. Tubi will refresh the collection quarterly, replacing 10% of the episodes with new selections.

The move adds another outlet for Sesame Workshop content alongside existing streaming deals. Netflix currently streams current seasons and selected library episodes globally, while YouTube offers 100 free episodes. In the U.S., Sesame Street is also accessible via PBS stations, PBS Kids digital platforms, and HBO Max, which maintains a large episode catalogue for subscribers.

Adam Lewinson, Tubi’s chief content officer, explained that the goal is to connect audiences across generations. He said, “By bringing hundreds of episodes to Tubi for free, we’re giving today’s kids access to joyful, foundational learning while inviting parents to share a piece of their own childhood with the next generation.” Joseph Giraldi, COO of Sesame Workshop, echoed the excitement, noting that the deal expands the reach and impact of the series, allowing beloved characters to engage more children and families.

Tubi, a division of Fox Corp.’s Tubi Media Group, claims to offer the largest on-demand library of premium content with over 275,000 movies and TV episodes, plus more than 300 originals. The platform currently reaches more than 97 million monthly active viewers, making it one of the most widely used free streaming services in the U.S.

With the addition of Sesame Street, Tubi strengthens its appeal to families while giving classic educational content a new home, ensuring that generations of viewers can continue enjoying the timeless lessons and laughter of the Sesame Street gang.
