A new trailer for Supergirl has offered an action-packed look at Kara Zor-El’s emotional and vengeful journey, setting the stage for the next chapter in the DC Universe (DCU).

The film stars Milly Alcock as the titular superhero, bringing a darker and more complex portrayal of Superman’s cousin to the big screen.

Directed by Craig Gillespie and developed under the creative vision of James Gunn, the movie follows Kara as she embarks on a mission fueled by personal loss after witnessing the destruction of her home planet. The trailer highlights her bond with Krypto, the super-powered dog, whose life becomes central to the story’s high-stakes conflict.

Inspired by the comic series Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow, the film sees Kara teaming up with Ruthye Marye Knoll, played by Eve Ridley, as they hunt down the villain Krem of the Yellow Hills, portrayed by Matthias Schoenaerts. Their journey introduces new characters, including fan-favorite antihero Lobo, played by Jason Momoa.

The trailer also reflects a tonal continuity with Gunn’s earlier DCU projects, blending emotional depth with stylized action. While Gunn does not direct this installment, his influence remains evident in the film’s character-driven storytelling and visual energy.

“Supergirl” is positioned as a key entry in the evolving DCU lineup, following recent developments in the franchise. The film is set to release in theaters on June 26, marking a significant step forward in DC Studios’ long-term cinematic plans.
