The city witnessed a series of severe traffic accidents on Sunday, leaving three people dead and over a dozen injured, including children and young adults.
A collision between a Suzuki pickup and a trailer in the Northern Bypass claimed the life of 35-year-old Sardar, the driver of the pickup. Nine passengers, including young men aged 18 to 28, sustained injuries and were rushed to Civil Hospital for treatment. The trailer driver fled the scene, while police secured the vehicles and launched a manhunt.
Meanwhile, on Sharae Faisal near Natha Khan Total Pump, a crash between two motorcycles killed 40-year-old Iqbal and injured two underage boys, who were transported to Jinnah Hospital by Chhipa Ambulance. Their identities are yet to be confirmed, and Airport Police are investigating.
In another tragic incident near Bilal Chowrangi, Korangi, Sharafi Goth, a father and his daughter were critically injured after colliding with a water tanker while riding a motorcycle. Twenty-year-old Saima died en route to Jinnah Hospital, while her father Gul Muhammad remains hospitalised. Police apprehended the tanker driver with assistance from local residents and confiscated both the tanker and the motorcycle involved.
Gul Muhammad, a father of nine, recounted that they were travelling to his son's home when the accident occurred near Singer Chowrangi. While his other daughter survived miraculously, the incident left the family devastated. He criticised the government for failing to ensure road safety, saying, "No words can compensate for the loss of my daughter."
These accidents underscore the urgent need for stricter traffic regulations and better enforcement to prevent further casualties on Karachi's busy roads.
