PAKISTAN:

Armed men robbed the female students of a medical and dental college on Shaheed-e-Millat Road on Thursday. The Inspector General of Sindh Police has taken notice of the incident and sought a report from the Additional IG Karachi.

The incident took place within the limits of New Town police station near Medicentre on Shaheed-e-Millat Road, where armed men targeted the female students of Jinnah Medical and Dental College. Upon receiving information, police reached the scene, collected evidence, and initiated an investigation.

Police said the robbery occurred at around 8:15am. A college bus had arrived as per routine to pick up students when two unidentified armed men boarded the vehicle and carried out the robbery. The suspects snatched mobile phones, jewellery, and other valuables from three female students and fled.

Police further stated that security guards are usually present in the surrounding area where the bus stops; however, on the day of the incident, security guards from Medicentre Hospital were not present. The suspects took advantage of the situation, boarded the van, and committed the crime. Among the stolen items were mobile phones and an artificial bracelet.

IG Sindh Ghulam Nabi Memon took strict notice of the incident and directed the Additional IG Karachi to submit a detailed report. He also ordered action against the concerned SHO and other security personnel, and directed police to ensure the immediate arrest of the suspects.

The IG further instructed that the suspects be identified based on statements from the victims and eyewitnesses, and that effective action be taken against the outlaws involved.
