TwitchCon introduces new safety rules following incidents at previous events
Twitch updates TwitchCon rules with new safety measures after past incidents involving streamers and fans

Twitch has announced updated safety rules and event protocols for TwitchCon following a series of incidents involving streamers at previous conventions.
TwitchCon, the platform’s flagship event, brings together content creators and fans for live interactions, meet-and-greets and community activities. However, several incidents in recent years have raised concerns about safety at the event.
In 2025, streamer Emiru was assaulted by a fan who grabbed her without consent. Earlier incidents include Nmplol being touched inappropriately during a broadcast in 2024, and Kaitlyn “Amouranth” Siragusa requiring security intervention in 2022 after multiple individuals reportedly stalked her at the event.
Following these events, Twitch CEO Dan Clancy stated that the company would review its safety procedures. “We’re examining everything, from how we do sign ups, to the layout, to increased security controls,” he said at the time.
On March 25, Twitch confirmed a series of new measures aimed at improving safety, beginning with TwitchCon Rotterdam. Among the changes are designated areas where streaming and recording will not be permitted, alongside the introduction of optional lanyards that allow attendees to signal they do not wish to appear on camera.
Twitch stated: “For those IRL streaming, don’t interview or approach someone wearing the designated lanyard, or who verbally says they don’t want to be on camera.” The platform added that violations of this rule could result in temporary suspension from streaming during the event, removal from the venue or extended bans.
The company is also revising its meet-and-greet structure. Fans will be required to make reservations in advance rather than approaching creators directly. Twitch said: “We’re reworking the physical layout and flow of Meet & Greets to make the experience smoother, safer, and more comfortable for everyone.”
Additional measures include increased security personnel, improved crowd management systems and updated escalation procedures to address incidents more quickly.
