Hugh Jackman and Sutton Foster wedding plans reportedly delayed over family concerns

Hugh Jackman and Sutton Foster have reportedly paused their wedding plans following concerns involving Jackman’s children, according to reports.

The actors, who starred together in the Broadway production The Music Man between 2021 and 2023, were first linked romantically in late 2024.

They confirmed their relationship publicly in January 2025 after being photographed holding hands during a dinner date in Santa Monica.

In January, reports emerged claiming that Jackman had proposed to Foster and that the pair had begun planning their wedding. However, new claims suggest the plans have been placed on hold.

According to the National Enquirer, the reported delay is connected to Jackman’s children and their relationship with their mother, Deborra-Lee Furness. The publication cited an unnamed source who said the children remain “steadfastly loyal” to Furness.

“Hugh really wants his kids at the wedding. They both want their loved ones with them to celebrate,” the insider said.

“Even though Hugh is excited to start this next chapter with Sutton, he has to be sensitive to his kids. They’re incredibly protective of their mother... he wants to be respectful of that,” the source added.

The same source claimed that Jackman does not want to move forward with a ceremony unless his children attend, and therefore, plans are currently paused.

Earlier reports had suggested the couple were planning a smaller ceremony with close friends in New York. Another unnamed source previously told New Idea that the couple were planning a spring or summer event attended by friends from the theatre community.

“[Hugh’s] told his team to keep a big window open for him and Sutton to tie the knot and have a honeymoon tour of Europe, where they can see his mum,” the source said.

A separate source previously told the publication that the couple were looking ahead to their future together.

“Hugh and Sutton are full of excitement about all the next steps that they can finally take,” the source said.

“They spent so long feeling like they couldn’t live out loud, but now that they are finally a public couple, things are moving very quickly.
