The BBC has struck a new three-year deal to continue producing its hit reality series The Traitors and its spin-off Celebrity Traitors, securing the franchise on the network until at least 2030.

The agreement reflects the enormous success of the psychological competition format, which has become one of the broadcaster’s biggest entertainment hits in recent years. Hosted by Claudia Winkleman, The Traitors first premiered in the UK in 2022 and quickly built a massive audience with its mix of strategy, deception and social deduction.

Set at Ardross Castle in the Scottish Highlands, the show brings together contestants who must work together to build a prize pot through challenges while secretly trying to uncover hidden “Traitors” among them. If any Traitors remain at the end of the game, they take the entire prize, while the “Faithful” contestants must identify and eliminate them to win.

The franchise has expanded rapidly following its popularity. A celebrity version launched in 2025 with famous contestants competing for charity, while the main series continues to draw strong ratings and international adaptations.

The most recent season of the main U.K. series aired in January 2026, once again hosted by Winkleman, as the show continued to dominate British television ratings and cultural conversation.

With the new deal in place, the BBC is expected to continue producing additional seasons of both the main series and its celebrity edition, cementing The Traitors as one of the broadcaster’s flagship entertainment franchises for years to come.
