Jennifer Lopez opens up about divorce from Marc Anthony: ' I was about to give up on it all'
Lopez, a music icon, said she looked back on her 2014 divorce from Anthony as 'a really tough time'

Jennifer Lopez is opening up about how challenging her divorce from Marc Anthony was, revealing that she came close to giving up during the difficult period after their split.
During her Up All Night Las Vegas residency show at Caesars Palace in March, the singer and actress told the audience she looked back on her 2014 divorce from Anthony as “a really tough time.” Lopez initially joked about learning from her third divorce, but then became serious about the emotional toll it took on her.
Lopez and Marc Anthony were married from 2004 to 2014 and share 18‑year‑old twins Max and Emme. Speaking to fans from the stage, she said she was “really about to give up on it all,” especially after becoming a single mother to her young children at just 3 years old.
She credited guidance and encouragement from one of her mentors, the late self‑help author Louise Hay, for helping her persevere and keep moving forward despite the emotional strain. Lopez shared that her mentor reminded her to “always keep dancing”, a metaphor that helped ground her through the struggle.
Lopez balanced her vulnerability with humor, acknowledging her history of high‑profile relationships, including three prior marriages before her fourth and most recent union with Ben Affleck, which ended in divorce.
Her candid remarks reflected not just on her breakup with Anthony but on resilience, personal growth and finding strength even through life’s most painful moments.
