Lindsay Lohan is reportedly remaining in Dubai with her family despite rising tensions in the Middle East, prompting concern among relatives in the United States.

The Mean Girls actor has lived in the United Arab Emirates for several years and currently resides in Dubai with her financier husband Bader Shammas and their son Luai. According to a source connected to her family, relatives have been monitoring the situation closely as regional conflict escalates.

“There's a lot going on over there,” the source told Daily Mail, adding that Lohan’s family had remained in regular contact with the actor during the developing situation.

“The family has been in constant communication. Right now, she's safe.”

Dubai has become a popular destination for celebrities in recent years, with several public figures relocating to the city. However, recent reports of explosions in Dubai and Abu Dhabi, along with missile activity targeting military bases across the region, have prompted some residents to reconsider their plans.

Lohan moved to the UAE in 2014 and has spent most of the past decade based in Dubai. Despite the concerns expressed by relatives, the source said the actor remains comfortable living there.

“It's a scary time for everyone, including Lindsay.”

In a previous interview with Vogue Arabia, Lohan spoke about the appeal of life in the city and how it allowed her to focus on family life.

“Being in Dubai is very grounding. I get to just spend time with my family. The city gives me a sense of being with what’s most important.”

Although she primarily lives in Dubai, Lohan travels to the United States for professional commitments. Recent projects have included work on Freakier Friday, and a cameo appearance in the Mean Girls musical film.

The wider regional situation escalated after United States President Donald Trump announced that US and Israeli forces had begun “major combat operations” in Iran, stating the objective was to “defend the American people by eliminating imminent threats from the Iranian regime”.

Iran later launched missiles targeting several US military bases across the Middle East, including locations in the UAE.
