Ioan Gruffudd wins restraining order case against ex-wife Alice Evans
Ioan Gruffudd has secured a five-year restraining order against ex-wife Alice Evans after a Los Angeles court ruling

Ioan Gruffudd has won his court battle against ex-wife Alice Evans, with a judge renewing a domestic violence restraining order against her for five years.
The ruling marks the latest development in what has widely been described as one of Hollywood’s most acrimonious splits. Gruffudd and Evans, who married in 2007 and separated in January 2021 before finalising their divorce in 2023, have been embroiled in a highly public dispute ever since.
A Los Angeles court heard that Evans violated terms of a previous restraining order that had barred her from mentioning Gruffudd on social media and required her to stay at least 100 feet away from him and his new wife, Bianca Wallace, whom he married last year.
According to reports from the courtroom, Evans admitted during testimony that she had shared negative comments about Gruffudd and Wallace online. She said she felt “ashamed and regretful” of her actions. However, the judge ruled that the restraining order should remain in place until at least 2031, citing what he described as multiple violations.
The judge characterised Evans’s social media activity as a “concerted, focused, intentional and caustic campaign of denigration,” stating that her actions caused fear for the couple’s physical safety and had the potential to damage Gruffudd’s career. While acknowledging that her online posts had “abated somewhat,” the court questioned the sincerity of her apology, calling it “a positive step forward” but not fully persuasive.
Gruffudd, known for roles in Titanic, Fantastic Four, and the ITV series Liar, previously alleged in court filings that Evans threatened to make false public accusations and “destroy” him if he left the marriage. Evans has denied harassing or threatening him.
The judge also urged the former couple to find a way to co-parent their two daughters, noting the prolonged strain the dispute has placed on the family.
Representatives for both parties have been contacted for comment following the decision.
