Teddi Mellencamp has revealed she was recently hospitalised after a frightening health scare that left her covered in painful sores across her body.

The former Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star shared the details on the March 3 episode of her podcast Two Ts in a Pod, explaining that she initially believed she had the flu before her symptoms suddenly worsened.

Mellencamp said she woke up one morning with what she described as “sores all over my entire body,” adding that they “hurt and they burned.”

Concerned about the severity of the reaction, Mellencamp went to urgent care hoping it was a mild allergic reaction. However, doctors quickly told her to go straight to the emergency room, where she was diagnosed with Stevens-Johnson syndrome — a rare and potentially life-threatening condition that affects the skin and mucous membranes.

According to Mellencamp, the condition was triggered by a new medication she had recently started taking. Stevens-Johnson syndrome often begins with flu-like symptoms before progressing into a severe rash and blistering that can cause the top layer of skin to die and peel away, making it a medical emergency that usually requires hospital treatment.

The 44-year-old said the reaction spread beyond her skin, causing blisters in her mouth and around her eyes, and leaving her unable to swallow. Doctors treated her with steroids and antibiotics while monitoring her condition closely in the hospital.

After several days of treatment, Mellencamp said her symptoms began to improve, allowing her to return home in time to celebrate her daughter Dove’s birthday — a moment she said meant a lot after missing the celebration the previous year.

The health scare comes amid Mellencamp’s ongoing battle with melanoma. She was first diagnosed with stage 2 melanoma in 2022, and in 2025 revealed the cancer had progressed to stage 4 after spreading to her brain and lungs.

Despite the frightening ordeal, Mellencamp expressed gratitude for her recovery and said she was relieved to be back home with her family as she continues her treatment and recovery journey.
