RAWALPINDI:

A clerk posted at the Rawalpindi Municipal Corporation went on a rampage over his transfer, storming the office of the Chief Executive Officer while armed, along with two accomplices. They reportedly held CEO Imran Ali and Law Officer Naeemul Hasan hostage, threatened them, injured the CEO with a pistol, damaged official records and created panic in the office before fleeing. Police later arrested the main suspect and registered a case.

According to details, CEO Imran Ali had transferred clerk Abdul Basit following serious complaints. Abdul Basit initially sent threatening messages to Imran Ali on WhatsApp, demanding the transfer be reversed. When the CEO ignored the threats, Abdul Basit, with two other armed men, forcibly entered the CEO's office.

The FIR registered at City Police Station states that Abdul Basit and two unknown men entered the office with weapons, bolted the door from inside, and attacked Imran Ali with a pistol, injuring his hand. During a struggle, the pistol fell, but Basit reportedly tried to strangle Imran Ali and threatened to shoot him if the transfer was not reversed. The assailants also tore and scattered official files, preventing the execution of official work and causing damage to government property while spreading fear among staff.

Police have registered a case under sections including attempted murder and intimidation. Abdul Basit has been arrested, while authorities are conducting raids to apprehend the accomplices.
