'Bridgerton' stars Luke Thompson and Yerin Ha say “we’re not thirst trap puppets”
Luke Thompson and Yerin Ha discuss intimacy, love and Lady Whistledown in 'Bridgerton' season four

Luke Thompson and Yerin Ha have reflected on bringing Benedict and Sophie’s romance to life in Bridgerton season four, saying it was important their intimate scenes felt authentic.
Speaking to The Hollywood Reporter, Thompson said the pair wanted to “deliver something real” in the show’s sex scenes, adding, “We’re not thirst trap puppets.”
Season four, Part 2 sees Benedict and Sophie attempt to navigate their relationship within the constraints of society, as Sophie is a maid and Benedict a nobleman.
Their storyline also includes Araminta’s efforts to have Sophie imprisoned and Benedict considering leaving his family in order to be with her.
Thompson described Benedict’s internal conflict as central to the character’s arc. “You always have to hold onto your family a little less tightly if you’re going to begin a family with someone else,” he said, referring to the tension between loyalty and starting a new life.
Ha discussed filming scenes in which Sophie is jailed, noting the darker tone. “We’ve never seen a Bridgerton jail before. I was like, ‘How dark are we going?’” she said, adding that working with co-star Katie Leung helped her explore that side of the story.
The actors also addressed the logistical challenges of filming intimate moments, including a bathtub sequence. “A lot of choreography,” Ha said, while Thompson added, “Seven hours in a bathtub … it’s not for the faint-hearted.”
On the newly introduced Lady Whistledown mystery, both actors said they had no insight. “It could be anyone. All bets are off,” Thompson said.
Looking ahead to season five, Thompson said it would be “nice to see them have kids,” while Ha suggested their characters could continue supporting the wider Bridgerton family.
