The upcoming feature film Three Incestuous Sisters, an adaptation of Audrey Niffenegger’s bestselling novel, has assembled a star-studded cast, Deadline reports.

Dakota Johnson, Saoirse Ronan, Jessie Buckley, and Josh O’Connor are set to lead the project, which will be directed by Italian filmmaker Alice Rohrwacher. The script, co-written by Rohrwacher and author Ottessa Moshfegh, is loosely based on the novel, and plot details are being kept under wraps.

Production will be financed and produced by Indian Paintbrush, with Johnson and Ro Donnelly producing for TeaTime Pictures alongside Steven Rales for Indian Paintbrush. Rohrwacher will also serve as a producer. Principal photography is scheduled to begin in April 2026.

The lead actors are currently enjoying recent successes. Johnson recently starred in Materialists with Chris Evans and Pedro Pascal, and appeared in Daddio opposite Sean Penn. Ronan received acclaim for The Outrun and is currently filming a Sam Mendes Beatles biopic as Linda McCartney. Buckley earned a Best Actress Oscar nomination and a Golden Globe win for Hamnet and will appear in The Bride alongside Christian Bale. O’Connor was featured in Wake Up Dead Man from the Knives Out series and will star opposite Emily Blunt in Steven Spielberg’s upcoming UFO film, Disclosure Day.

Rohrwacher’s previous feature, La Chimera (2023), also starring O’Connor, premiered at Cannes and was named one of the top five international films of 2023 by the National Board of Review. She received the 2026 European Film Academy Achievement in World Cinema Award.

The combination of a high-profile cast and Rohrwacher’s acclaimed direction positions Three Incestuous Sisters as one of the most anticipated international films of 2026.
