Overwatch Rush announced by Blizzard as new mobile hero shooter
Blizzard unveils Overwatch Rush, top-down mobile hero shooter set in Overwatch universe

Blizzard has announced Overwatch Rush, a new mobile game set within the Overwatch universe. Revealed on February 24, Overwatch Rush is described as a top-down hero shooter designed specifically for mobile devices.
The project is being developed by a dedicated team at Blizzard, separate from Team 4, the group traditionally associated with the main Overwatch title.
According to the official announcement, familiar characters including Reinhardt, Mercy and Tracer will feature in the mobile release.
However, gameplay will differ from the third-person action format seen in the core Overwatch experience, with Overwatch Rush built around mechanics tailored for mobile platforms.
Blizzard addressed the early stage of development in its reveal statement. “While there remains a lot of work to do, we’re eager to see how players enjoy what we’ve built so far, and to hear from them on what we should focus on in the coming phases of development.”
The studio added, “Our mission is to continue to expand the Overwatch universe by bringing fresh new adventures to players across all platforms. We’ll continue to keep you updated on how things are progressing.”
No release date has been confirmed for Overwatch Rush. Developers are preparing to begin testing in select countries and regions, with further details expected at a later stage.
The announcement comes amid renewed attention for Overwatch following the launch of its Season 1 update. The new season introduced Jet Pack Cat, additional heroes and fresh content for players, signalling continued support for the franchise across multiple platforms.
Blizzard’s move into mobile with Overwatch Rush marks another step in expanding the Overwatch brand beyond its established formats.
