Alysa Liu requests Fortnite skin after Winter Olympics gold medal win goes viral
Alysa Liu says she would “love” a Fortnite skin after becoming first US women’s singles champion in 24 years

Alysa Liu has said she would welcome her own Fortnite skin after her Winter Olympics gold medal performance prompted widespread attention online.
The 2026 Winter Olympics champion, Alysa Liu, became the first US women’s singles figure skater in 24 years to win Olympic gold. Following her victory, she told USA Today Sports that she is an active Fortnite player and would be interested in appearing in the game.
“Would you want Fortnite to do a skin on you?” the interviewer asked. Liu replied, “I would love Fortnite to do a skin on me. I would buy it.”
Fortnite, developed by Epic Games, has built a reputation for high-profile collaborations across entertainment, sport and music.
The game’s Icon Series features more than 70 personalities, including singers, DJs, footballers and streamers. Previous additions have ranged from fictional characters to global music acts, reflecting the title’s broad crossover appeal.
Liu’s Olympic achievement ended a two-decade wait for a US women’s singles gold medallist in figure skating. In addition to her individual title, she also secured a second gold medal at the Games.
While athletes have previously featured in Fortnite’s roster, Epic Games has not commented on Liu’s request. The company continues to expand its collaborations, introducing new skins, in-game events and themed content each season.
Whether Liu will join the list of cultural figures represented in Fortnite remains unclear. For now, her remarks have added her name to the growing number of public figures expressing interest in appearing in the game.
