Kate Hudson appeared in a promotional video for the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic Games during NBC’s broadcast of the Milan Cortina Winter Olympics on Sunday evening.

The segment, which aired towards the end of the closing coverage, featured the Oscar-nominated actor performing California Dreamin’ over a montage introducing the upcoming LA28 Games.

The song, originally recorded by The Mamas & the Papas, was written in 1963 during a winter in New York when Michelle Phillips was reflecting on Southern California.

Hudson’s performance opened the video, followed by footage of athletes expected to feature prominently at the 2028 Olympics and scenes from across Los Angeles.

Landmarks and neighbourhoods shown included Downtown, Venice, Inglewood, Griffith Park, Hollywood, San Pedro, Santa Monica and Century City.

The appearance provided Hudson with a high-profile role in the handover period between Olympic host cities, as Los Angeles prepares to stage the Summer Games in 2028. The promotional film aimed to showcase both the sporting ambitions of the Games and daily life across the city.

Hudson has previously demonstrated her singing ability in film projects, including Song Sung Blue, and has also released her own music.

The LA28 promotional video formed part of NBC’s coverage, marking the conclusion of the Milan Cortina Games, offering viewers an early look at the next United States-hosted Olympics.
