Natalie Portman admits she stole and lost Anakin’s hair from ‘Star Wars’ set
Natalie Portman revealed she stole Anakin Skywalker’s hair from ‘Star Wars’ but has since lost the memento

Natalie Portman recently shared a surprising behind-the-scenes anecdote from her time on the Star Wars prequels. On The Drew Barrymore Show, the Oscar-winning actress revealed that she took a locket of Hayden Christensen’s Anakin Skywalker hair as a personal memento while filming, only to misplace it later.
Portman explained that the hair she took was part of the iconic braids worn by Anakin, which were actually clip-on extensions. “It’s quite iconic,” she said, adding candidly, “The only problem is I lost it. I don’t know where it is now. I stole it and lost it.” The confession came during a playful ‘Pop Quiz’ segment, where Portman revisited some of her most memorable roles, including Garden State, Closer, Black Swan, No Strings Attached, and Jackie.
Christensen, who played Anakin Skywalker, recently admitted that he had taken some props from the films as well, including a couple of Padmé braids and even a lightsaber from Episode III. He joked about trying to ship the lightsaber disguised as a didgeridoo to get it home to Canada.
Portman’s revelation shows a lighter side of actors’ attachment to their work and the keepsakes they take from sets to remember their experiences. While Christensen cleverly attempted to smuggle a bulky prop across continents, Portman’s sentimental gesture was smaller in scale but no less meaningful. Fans of the Star Wars franchise were quick to share in the nostalgia, amused by the playful admissions of two of the saga’s central stars.
The segment highlighted the human side of filming blockbuster movies, where actors sometimes collect small mementos to mark pivotal moments in their careers.
