Britney Spears has reportedly sold her song catalog along with an unspecified number of additional rights to music publishing and management company Primary Wave, marking one of the most significant business moves of her career.

According to Variety, representatives for both Spears and Primary Wave declined to comment on the agreement, while TMZ — which first reported the news — estimated the deal to be valued in the low nine figures.

Although exact details remain confidential and are likely protected by strict non-disclosure agreements, the transaction is believed to include Spears’ artist royalties and publishing rights. Legal documents cited in the TMZ report indicate that the pop icon sold her ownership share of the catalog, though the final purchase price was not disclosed.

Spears holds songwriting credits on nearly 40 tracks in her discography, including the hit ballad “Everytime” and fan favorites such as “Me Against the Music,” “Work Bitch!” and “S&M.” However, it is considered unlikely that her name, image and likeness rights were part of the deal unless the valuation exceeded current estimates.

The acquisition opens the door for expanded use of Spears’ music across future projects. These could include the upcoming biopic based on her bestselling memoir The Woman in Me, which Universal Pictures secured in 2024, as well as potential licensing opportunities in film, television and stage productions.

Spears has not released a studio album since Glory in 2016 and last performed live in 2018. After the end of her conservatorship in 2021, she has largely stayed out of the spotlight, maintaining a limited public presence through social media. More recently, the singer dampened speculation about a return to touring by stating she does not plan to perform in the United States again, though she hinted at possible international appearances in the future.
