RAWALPINDI:

In view of the overall security and law and order situation, and to counter the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf's (PTI) strike call and expected protests, security has been put on high alert across Rawalpindi.

More than 4,000 police officers and personnel have been deployed on special duties, while special pickets have been established at 82 locations.

The Metro Bus service operating between the twin cities remained suspended.

Police decided to deal strictly with anyone attempting to disrupt citizens' daily life. A flag march was also conducted to demonstrate police strength and preparedness.

According to sources, comprehensive security arrangements were made across the city. With the high alert in place, over 4,300 officers and personnel were deployed to maintain security and manage traffic.

All senior officers remained present in the field to supervise the arrangements.

Special pickets were established at 82 locations, and checking continued at entry and exit points of the city. CPO Khalid Hamdani stated that Section 144 is in force in Rawalpindi and its strict implementation is being ensured. He said no illegal gathering, sit-in or rally would be allowed at any location, while double riding has also been banned.

He added that mobile units from police stations, Elite Force and Dolphin Force teams are patrolling across the city, while continuous monitoring is being carried out through Safe City and other surveillance cameras. No one would be allowed to disrupt the routine life of citizens, he said, warning that any act of mischief or violation of law would be dealt with an iron hand. Ensuring the rule of law and maintenance of peace, he said, remains the top priority.

Meanwhile, under the leadership of SSP Operations Malik Tariq Mehboob, Rawalpindi Police conducted a flag march starting from Police Headquarters.

The march passed through Ammar Chowk, Rawal Road, Shaheen Chowk, Chandni Chowk, Double Road, Faizabad, Committee Chowk, Liaquat Bagh, Peshawar Road, Chohar Chowk, Adiala Road and other areas before concluding back at Police Lines.

The flag march was attended by the SSP Investigation, Chief Traffic Officer, Divisional SPs, SDPOs, SHOs and other officers. Officials said the purpose of the flag march was to demonstrate Rawalpindi Police's resolve to maintain law and order.
