Kite-flying incidents claim lives
Journalist dies after rooftop fall

Accidents linked to kite flying on the third day of Basant claimed lives on Sunday, including that of a journalist.
Zain Malik, a journalist and resident of the Sanda area, lost his life after falling from a rooftop while flying a kite. He was rushed in a critical condition to Mian Munshi Hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries.
Zain had worked as a reporter for several television channels in Lahore. He was serving as a sports reporter with a news channel.
Separately, a 16-year-old boy was killed in Bilal Ganj near Lower Mall after falling from a rooftop while flying a kite on the second night of Basant.
According to an Edhi Foundation spokesperson, the teenager, Abdullah, had travelled from Sialkot to Lahore to celebrate Basant. He was taken to a hospital but died of the injuries. After completion of legal formalities, the body was shifted to a morgue via an Edhi ambulance.
Another fatal incident was reported from Iqbal Colony, Baghbanpura, where a 32-year-old man, Suleman, died of electrocution while attempting to retrieve a kite.
Edhi officials said the victim had come into contact with a live electric wire while handling kite string and died on the spot. The police handed over the body to the Edhi service for transfer to a morgue.
Meanwhile, a boy was injured in the Defence C area after kite string slashed his neck while he was riding a bicycle. He was shifted to a hospital, where doctors provided emergency treatment.
