FAISALABAD:

The divisional administration has launched an emergency-level de-watering drive across Faisalabad, Chiniot and Gojra to eliminate sewage-filled ponds and stagnant water posing serious public health and safety risks.

Heavy machinery and specialised de-watering sets have been deployed, with officials aiming to dry out all hazardous ponds within a month as part of a division-wide sanitation and safety campaign.

Commissioner Raja Jahangir Anwar carried out a division-wise inspection of sanitation arrangements in Chiniot and Gojra on a public holiday, imposing fines worth Rs600,000 on non-compliant cleanliness contractors for failing to follow the standard operating procedures set by the Punjab government.

During his visit to Chiniot city, the commissioner imposed a fine of Rs200,000 on the Suthra Punjab contractor over poor cleanliness conditions.

He inspected several locations where sanitation standards were found unsatisfactory and directed immediate corrective measures.

The commissioner stressed that negligence in cleanliness would not be tolerated and warned contractors of strict action in case of repeated violations.
