Britney Spears tells Instagram she feels lucky to be alive and says her family will not take responsibility

Britney Spears has spoken candidly about her family relationships, saying she feels lucky to be alive and remains frightened of those closest to her.

In an Instagram post shared on Wednesday, the singer reflected on loneliness and the desire for connection.

“As people, all we really want is to feel connected to each other and never feel alone,” she wrote. She addressed relatives who claimed isolation was a form of help, adding, “they were wrong.”

Spears continued, “We can forgive as people but u don’t ever forget. Yearning and longing for contact is always crucial.” She went on to say she was “incredibly lucky to even be alive with how my family treated me once in my life and now I’m scared of them.”

The performer suggested her family would never accept accountability. “Because to be totally honest with you, no matter what he says, they will never take responsibility for what they did,” she added, referencing faith and fate.

In a brief postscript, Spears mentioned enjoying cheesecake with a neighbour and revealed she had not danced for a month after breaking a toe twice.

The message follows several years of public comments from Spears about her parents Jamie and Lynne and her sister Jamie Lynn.

During the Christmas period she posted a sarcastic note about her relatives, writing, “Merry late Christmas to my beautiful family who have never disrespected me, harmed me, ever done anything completely unacceptable or caused unbelievable trauma.”

Spears shares two sons, Sean Preston and Jayden, with former husband Kevin Federline, and spent the recent holiday with Jayden, according to a source.
