Sophie Nélisse teases Rose Landry’s bigger role in Heated Rivalry season 2
Sophie Nélisse promises more screen time for Rose Landry in Heated Rivalry season 2 and highlights cast camaraderie

Sophie Nélisse has confirmed that her character Rose Landry will return in Heated Rivalry season 2, with a larger role and more on-screen interactions with Shane Hollander.
The Crave series, adapted from Rachel Reid’s popular Game Changer novels, follows the secret romance between hockey rivals Shane Hollander and Ilya Rozanov.
In season 1, Landry, a famous actress, briefly dates Hollander before learning he is gay, later becoming one of his closest allies. Nélisse says the second season will expand this dynamic, giving fans more face-to-face moments rather than the primarily phone-based interactions portrayed in the books. “I think we're trying to make that more of an in-person relationship,” she explained.
Nélisse also praised the collaborative and supportive environment on set. She highlighted the chemistry between Hudson Williams and Connor Storrie, who portray Hollander and Rozanov, describing it as authentic and a key factor in the show’s success. “It really felt like one big family… We all had fun shooting the show without any sort of pretension,” Nélisse said.
The Montreal-raised actress emphasized her character’s role as a safe space and ally for Shane. “Everyone would be so lucky to have a Rose in their life,” she said. Fans speculate that season 2 may draw from Reid’s sixth book, The Long Game, which continues Hollander and Rozanov’s story while keeping Landry as a trusted confidante.
Nélisse also expressed admiration for creator Jacob Tierney, calling him “one of the most creatively fascinating” collaborators she has worked with. She joked about her willingness to participate in any spinoff, including the fictional X-Squad films featured in the series.
With Bell Media confirming a second season, viewers can expect more emotional depth, allyship, and off-screen camaraderie to shine through on screen in Heated Rivalry’s sophomore season.
