'Super Mario Galaxy' Movie trailer reveals first look at Yoshi and Baby Mario
Nintendo and Illumination debut Yoshi, Baby Mario and more in the first trailer for 'The Super Mario Galaxy' Movie

Nintendo and Illumination have released the first full trailer for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie, offering an early look at new characters and story elements from the upcoming animated sequel.
The trailer debuted following the latest Nintendo Direct and runs for just under two minutes, combining previously seen footage with several new reveals.
Among the most notable is the first proper appearance of Yoshi, who was teased briefly at the end of The Super Mario Bros. Movie. The green dinosaur appears in multiple scenes, confirming his expanded role in the sequel.
The footage also introduces Baby Mario and Baby Luigi, characters closely associated with Super Mario World 2: Yoshi’s Island. Their inclusion suggests the film will draw inspiration from a broader range of Mario titles, rather than focusing solely on Super Mario Galaxy, despite the film’s title.
In addition to the younger versions of Mario and Luigi, the trailer features Birdo, a recurring character from the Mario series who has appeared in multiple games over the years.
Another character spotted briefly is Mouser, an enemy originally introduced in Super Mario Bros. 2, indicating that the sequel may incorporate deeper references from across the franchise’s history.
One scene near the end of the trailer shows Yoshi holding a Super Scope, the SNES-era light gun accessory, further reinforcing the film’s use of visual callbacks to Nintendo hardware and games.
Nintendo has not yet confirmed casting details for the newly introduced characters, and no official information has been shared regarding voice actors for Yoshi, Baby Mario, Baby Luigi, or Birdo.
The Super Mario Galaxy Movie is scheduled for release on April 1, 2026. The film follows the commercial success of The Super Mario Bros. Movie, which marked Nintendo and Illumination’s first major collaboration on the franchise.
No details have been announced regarding post-credits scenes or additional future projects connected to the Mario film universe.
