Martin Scorsese has become the punchline of his daughter Francesca’s latest TikTok, and fans can’t get enough of it.

The Oscar-winning filmmaker, 83, was playfully trolled by his 26-year-old daughter after she asked him to judge “red flags” and “green flags” in a hypothetical romantic partner, only to reveal she was describing him all along.

In the viral clip, Francesca begins by making sure her father understands modern dating slang. “Red flag means danger, stay away… green means go,” Scorsese says earnestly, comparing it to traffic lights “or so they tell me.”

Pretending to seek advice about someone she was talking to, Francesca listed a series of traits and asked her father to weigh in. Scorsese quickly deemed being “very private” and “complaining a lot” as red flags, even admitting, “You don’t want somebody who complains like me all the time.” Reading frequently and being obsessed with a dog, however, earned immediate approval.

The legendary director also drew laughs when he rejected the idea of Francesca dating anyone connected to his own profession. When she mentioned film work, Scorsese responded bluntly: “Oh, it’s a red flag. Anything to do with film!”, before half-heartedly conceding that it might work, given his daughter’s career as an actor and filmmaker.

Things escalated when Francesca pointed out her father’s habit of giving long, winding answers. “When I ask him a question it takes him like 10 minutes to respond,” she joked. Scorsese defended himself with a lengthy explanation, ironically proving her point, before concluding that it was probably a green flag.

At the end of the video, Scorsese firmly declared the mystery man unfit for his daughter. “No, he doesn’t seem good. There were so many red flags!” Francesca then delivered the twist, laughing as she revealed, “Dad, it’s you!”

A stunned Scorsese reacted in mock horror. “It’s me?! Well look what’s happened! Red flags, no, please, you should stay away from people like me!” he exclaimed, prompting Francesca to collapse into laughter.

The video quickly racked up thousands of likes and comments, with viewers praising the pair’s warmth and chemistry. Fans joked about Scorsese’s self-awareness and celebrated what many called “elite dad content,” with one commenter writing that the twist rivaled the plot of Shutter Island.

Francesca later responded to comments noting her father’s tangents, writing, “No and I literally cut half of it out. HALF.”
