Greenwich University awards scholarships, financial aid at convocation

35 students were awarded academic scholarships, more than 500 received various forms of financial assistance

Greenwich University hosted its convocation ceremony at the Sindh Governor House on Saturday where around 35 students were awarded academic scholarships, while more than 500 students received various forms of financial assistance.

Awards were distributed among 362 degree holders, including 82 undergraduate students, 57 master’s students and other graduates during the event.

Sindh Governor and Chancellor Kamran Tessori was the chief guest on the occasion. Among those present were Greenwich University Vice Chancellor Seema Naaz Mughal, businessman Haji Rafiq Pardesi, US Consul General Charles Goodman, deputy consuls general from Oman and the United Arab Emirates, and consuls general from Sri Lanka, Nepal, Iraq, Qatar, Thailand and Hong Kong, along with Merchant General Hamdan.

Addressing the ceremony, Governor Tessori highlighted the role of private universities in providing Pakistani students with access to quality education, saying that Pakistan’s private universities are “no less than any university in the world”. He urged students to achieve success through innovation, hard work and dedication.

The governor also called on the diplomatic community to facilitate visa processes for Pakistani youth so that they could pursue higher education abroad.

VC Mughal, in her remarks, highlighted the leadership role of women across various sectors, saying that women were progressing in every field, which she described as a positive and encouraging sign for society.

During the ceremony, honorary degrees were conferred on Brooks Pharma owner Senator Abdul Haseeb, All Pakistan Newspapers Society President and Geo and Jang Group Managing Director Senator Sarmad Ali, ARY Networks CEO Jarjees Seja, and Bank of Punjab President and CEO Zafar Masood. Several consuls general were also presented with gold medals.
