Michael B. Jordan has addressed a viral moment from the 2026 Golden Globes that placed his mother, Donna Jordan, in the spotlight, saying she is accustomed to public reactions to her son’s fame.

Speaking on Jimmy Kimmel Live, the actor reflected on attending the ceremony with his mother and said the experience was largely enjoyable. “I had fun, but my mom stole the show,” Jordan said, adding that her friends had been sharing clips and memes with her following the broadcast.

The moment occurred during the Golden Globes ceremony when host Nikki Glaser made a sexually suggestive joke while discussing Jordan’s dual role in Sinners. As the joke landed, cameras cut to Jordan seated beside his mother.

Jordan laughed and covered his face, while Donna Jordan looked away, avoided smiling and calmly took a sip of water. The reaction quickly circulated online and prompted widespread discussion on social media.

Asked by Kimmel whether his mother feels uncomfortable when women openly express attraction towards him, Jordan replied, “I think by now she’s used to it.” He added that she typically responds with an eye roll and moves on without engaging further.

Donna Jordan has accompanied her son to several high-profile events in recent years, including the 2026 Critics Choice Awards. On the Golden Globes red carpet, she spoke about her pride in her son’s career choices, saying she values the messages he aims to share through his work.

Jordan said there was no lingering awkwardness after the incident and that the pair celebrated together following the ceremony. Sinners received awards for Cinematic and Box Office Achievement and Best Original Score, and Jordan said they attended an afterparty together. “She can hang,” he said, adding that his mother joined in dancing and socialising.
