Rapper Pooh Shiesty has been returned to custody in Dallas, Texas, three months after his early release from federal prison, according to public records and published reports dated January 12.

The development has drawn attention from fans who had been closely following the Memphis artist’s return to music.

Pooh Shiesty, whose real name is Lontrell Donell Williams Jr, rose to prominence with tracks including Back in Blood and was signed to Gucci Mane’s 1017 label prior to his legal issues. He had been serving a federal sentence for a firearms conspiracy charge linked to a 2020 incident in Florida.

Federal prison records show that although his original release date was scheduled for April 2026, he was released early in October 2025 after spending about three years in custody.

Following his release, the rapper resumed musical activity and issued new material, including a song titled FDO, which stands for ‘First Day Out’. The track referenced his release and included shout outs to other hip-hop artists.

Updated Federal Bureau of Prisons records now list Pooh Shiesty as being held at a Residential Reentry Management facility in Dallas. His projected release date is currently shown as April 11, 2026.

Authorities have not confirmed the circumstances surrounding his return to custody, and it remains unclear whether it is related to probation conditions, new charges or a federal hold.

The arrest has prompted renewed scrutiny as many fans had been monitoring his early career revival after prison, particularly following the release of FDO and his increased engagement on social media.

At 26, Pooh Shiesty had been among the more high-profile artists to secure an early release, and his return to custody has raised questions about his immediate future.

Neither the Dallas Police Department nor representatives for the rapper have issued a public statement regarding the matter.

In a previously shared online video, Pooh Shiesty displayed paperwork from his federal case and denied rumours that he cooperated with authorities, addressing speculation surrounding his earlier conviction.
