Brooklyn Beckham has reportedly outlined why he sent a legal letter requesting that his parents, David and Victoria Beckham, communicate with him only through lawyers, despite their continued hopes of reconciling amid an escalating family rift.

According to reports first published by the Daily Mail, the 26-year-old instructed his parents not to contact him directly or reference him publicly on social media. The request was not tied to any legal action but was described as a formal appeal intended to establish boundaries.

The Mirror later reported that the decision was linked to concerns over Brooklyn’s mental health. A source familiar with the situation told the publication that online posts made by David and Victoria, particularly those tagging or mentioning their son, had caused distress. Brooklyn reportedly wanted any attempts to resolve tensions to take place privately rather than in the public eye.

“It had been leading to issues with his mental health, and the letter was to protect himself,” the source said, adding that Brooklyn felt his repeated requests for privacy had gone unheeded. The source also claimed he believes his parents continue to view him as a child rather than an independent adult.

The development comes amid further strain involving Brooklyn’s wife, actress Nicola Peltz. Over the weekend, Peltz removed all references to the Beckham family from her Instagram account, including a previous birthday tribute to Victoria Beckham. Brooklyn, however, has not deleted similar content.

The move followed confirmation from Brooklyn’s younger brother Cruz that Brooklyn had blocked his parents and siblings on social media. Cruz addressed speculation online, stating that the family had not unfollowed Brooklyn but had instead been blocked without warning.

Peltz subsequently shared posts celebrating her own family, referring to them as “my crew,” and featuring images from time spent at her parents’ home. While she included photos of Brooklyn and their pets, no members of the Beckham family appeared in the posts.

The feud reportedly dates back to Brooklyn and Peltz’s wedding in April 2022, after claims emerged that Peltz chose not to wear a gown designed by Victoria Beckham. Although both women publicly denied a feud at the time, sources alleged tensions over wedding planning and family involvement. Peltz later stated that Victoria’s fashion atelier was unable to complete the dress in time and emphasized that there was no ongoing conflict.

Despite publicly dismissing reports of discord in the past, Brooklyn has been absent from several major family events in recent months, including David Beckham’s milestone birthday celebrations and a recent investiture.

Sources cited by both the Daily Mail and the Mirror say that while Brooklyn remains close to his grandparents on both sides, his relationship with his parents has deteriorated significantly. One source claimed Brooklyn has told friends that his relationship with David and Victoria is “over,” though another emphasized that there remains “a lot of love” for extended family members.

David and Victoria Beckham are said to remain hopeful that the family will eventually reconcile. A source told the Daily Mail that they have no intention of giving up on repairing their relationship with their son, despite the current lack of direct communication.

Representatives for Brooklyn Beckham, David and Victoria Beckham, and Nicola Peltz have been contacted for comment.
