Epic Games has released the official trailer for its Fortnite and South Park crossover, confirming new gameplay features, a limited-time playlist and a free event mini pass. The crossover launches on Friday, January 9, and will run until February 5 as part of Fortnite Chapter 7.

The trailer introduces a short animated segment featuring South Park characters Butters, Stan, Kyle, Cartman and Kenny entering Fortnite together. The crossover centres on a new five-player battle royale playlist known as Quints, which allows squads of five to compete.

According to Epic Games, Quints will be available for the duration of the event, marking the first time Fortnite has supported five-player teams in a dedicated playlist.

The official trailer follows an earlier leak that circulated online. Epic’s released version runs approximately two and a half minutes longer and includes additional scenes animated in South Park’s signature style.

In the short, the group excludes Butters from their lobby before Cartman remarks, “Actually, you just suck at Fortnite. It’s not even lowkey.” The story then transitions into Fortnite gameplay as Butters, dressed as Professor Chaos, transforms the South Park school bus into a Battle Bus using the Stick of Truth.

Epic has confirmed that each character will appear as a mech-style skin within the game. The trailer description also confirms that Quints will remain active until the event concludes, though further gameplay details have not yet been disclosed by the developer.

Alongside the new mode, Epic announced that the Born in Chaos mini pass will be free. Unlike previous Fortnite mini passes, it will not automatically include crossover skins. Instead, South Park outfits will be sold separately through the in-game Shop.

The Fortnite x South Park event will be available for one month. Epic has not yet detailed additional features teased in the trailer, including the appearance of Towelie as a Sidekick or locations such as Cartmanland.
