TDF MagnifiScience Centre, TDF Ghar receive museum status from Sindh govt
Karachi institutions honoured for their role in heritage and public learning

The Dawood Foundation has announced that its educational attractions in Karachi, the TDF MagnifiScience Centre and TDF Ghar, have been granted the official status of museums by the Sindh government. The announcement was shared on Wednesday through an official statement posted on the foundation’s Instagram account.
In the statement, it was said, “This recognition celebrates their contribution to preserving heritage, inspiring curiosity and making culture and science accessible to all in Karachi.” Appreciation was also expressed to the relevant authorities for the honour, while a commitment was reiterated to continue efforts towards “advancing public learning through culture, science and heritage”.
TDF Ghar, widely recognised as Karachi’s first living museum, has long been regarded as one of the city’s most prominent informal learning spaces. It was established in a 1930s bungalow built along MA Jinnah Road and has evolved into a place where people are brought together for events, study sessions and exhibitions of all kinds.
The space has been appreciated not only as a unique place to socialise and function as a community centre, but also as a must-visit destination for those wishing to relive the true spirit of old Karachi.
The rooftop, offering a stunning view of Jinnah’s Mausoleum, has further added to its appeal.

Meanwhile, the TDF MagnifiScience Centre has been established as Pakistan’s first contemporary and interactive science centre, designed to offer hands-on learning experiences to people of all ages and backgrounds.
It has gained popularity as a location people genuinely visit for enjoyment, and has become a well-known destination for school field trips. The centre has been described as highly stimulating in the right ways, with its interactive exhibits encouraging curiosity and engagement, while aiming to develop scientific thinking through accessible and engaging experiences.

This development marks an important milestone for Karachi’s cultural and educational landscape.
