Frankie Muniz, Bryan Cranston and Jane Kaczmarek are returning to their roles in Malcolm in the Middle, as Disney has released the first trailer for the four-episode revival ahead of its April 10, 2026 debut on Hulu.

The limited series, titled Malcolm in the Middle: Life’s Still Unfair, sees Malcolm drawn back into his family’s orbit after spending years away. In the trailer, Malcolm insists, “My life is fantastic now,” before his parents Hal and Lois demand that he attend their 40th wedding anniversary celebration. Lois later declares, “Malcolm has been intentionally hiding himself from this family for years.”

The revival introduces Keeley Karsten as Leah, Malcolm’s daughter, who challenges her father about distancing himself from his family. Her character tells him he cannot ignore where he comes from, setting the stage for Malcolm’s return to the family’s familiar chaos.

Disney confirmed the revival last year, with Muniz, Cranston and Kaczmarek reprising their original roles. Christopher Kennedy Masterson and Justin Berfield are also returning as Malcolm’s brothers. Series creator Linwood Boomer is back as writer and executive producer.

Several new characters will join the cast. Vaughan Murrae plays Kelly, Malcolm’s youngest sibling, while Kiana Madeira appears as Tristan, Malcolm’s girlfriend. Dewey has been recast for the revival, with Caleb Ellsworth-Clark taking over the role originally played by Erik Per Sullivan, who is not returning.

The original Malcolm in the Middle premiered on Fox in January 2000 and ran for seven seasons. The series received seven Emmy Awards, including honours for writing and directing in its early years. The revival is produced by 20th Television, part of Disney Television Studios, alongside New Regency.

The four episodes will stream on Hulu in the United States and on Disney+ internationally for eligible subscribers.
