Prince Harry and Meghan Markle face staff criticism after communications chief exit
Insiders allege management issues after Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s US communications chief left after seven months

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are facing renewed scrutiny over their working relationships after reports that their US communications chief left the role after seven months, with insiders alleging ongoing issues behind the scenes.
Sources cited by Rob Shuter claimed the departure was not an isolated incident but part of what they described as a broader pattern.
According to one insider, working for the Duke and Duchess of Sussex can become “impossible” due to how advice is handled. The source alleged, “They’d ask for strategy, then scrap it if it didn’t match Meghan’s instincts or Harry’s mood.”
Other insiders pointed to what they described as frequent micromanagement. One person said, “Nothing was ever final,” adding that “Emails would come back at 2 a.m. changing a single adjective,” before being altered again later. These claims suggest, according to sources, that staff found it difficult to complete tasks with certainty.
Another source told the outlet that praise was inconsistent, stating, “You’re praised until the moment something goes wrong.” The same individual added, “Then you’re quietly pushed out.”
Separate insiders claimed that the couple’s alleged reputation has affected recruitment, with one saying, “Top-tier talent won’t touch the job anymore,” and adding, “Everyone asks how long the last person lasted.”
A further source rejected the idea that repeated departures were down to chance, telling the outlet, “It’s not bad luck,” and adding, “It’s bad leadership.” These remarks were attributed to people described as familiar with the working environment surrounding the Sussexes’ projects.
The reports follow the latest staff exit from the couple’s US-based communications team. Neither Prince Harry nor Meghan Markle has commented publicly on the allegations.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex continue to oversee their charitable and media ventures through the Archewell Foundation and related entities.
