Sanam Marvi brings new depth to 'Zindagi' in soulful collaboration

Celebrated Sufi singer teams up with 'The Sketches', promising a reflective track built on themes of love, serenity

KARACHI:

Singer Sanam Marvi has spoken about her forthcoming song 'Zindagi', saying the track carries a promise of love, peace and serenity, in a pair of reflective social media posts announcing the collaboration with the band 'The Sketches'.

In one message, Marvi reflected that as a professional artist she often encounters reminders that art is immortal. She said the thought surfaced while recording 'Zindagi' with Saif Samejo at his studio.

According to her, a feeling during the session convinced her the composition could become an anthem for listeners who cherish each moment of life, and she hoped 'Zindagi' would find a lasting place in audiences' playlists.

"While I was recording this new track 'Zindagi' with Ada Saif Samejo at his studio, deep down inside my heart, there came a feeling that it's going to be an anthem of love, peace and serenity for those, who know what is life and how beautiful it is to celebrate each moment of life - - - Zindagi," Marvi wrote.

In a separate statement from 'The Sketches' called the upcoming release a complete experiment. The group said the song was written by Sardar Shah and composed years ago but never issued, suggesting it may have been waiting for Marvi's voice.

The band said they had been alone with the sound until her vocals breathed life into it, adding that some listeners may completely embrace the track while others may not connect with it, which they accepted.

They noted the sound recalls their work from more than a decade ago, and that revisiting it feels like knocking on that era's door again, allowing them to recreate the music they had long enjoyed making.

'The Sketches' added that their intention was straightforward: to let the music stay alternative, contemporary and honest, saying Marvi simply did what she does best while the band returned to the approach they have always loved.

"We feel you will either truly love this song, or it won't speak to you at all and that's okay. Sanam sang what she does best, and we did what we've always loved to do," wrote Samejo, the band lead.

"This is the sound we were playing more than a decade ago, and recreating music like this feels like knocking on that time's door again. As always, our intention is simple: to let the music remain alternative, contemporary, and honest."

Both the singers ended with a sense of anticipation, with Marvi wishing the song would be a beautiful addition to listeners' playlists and Samejo saying they could not wait to share 'Zindagi' with the public.
