Panel will probe Radio Pakistan vandalism
Committee to assess causes, possible conspiracy behind May 2023 incident

The Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Assembly has constituted a special committee to investigate the vandalism that occurred at Radio Pakistan Peshawar.
The decision was taken following the approval of a motion presented in the provincial assembly session on December 15, 2025.
The committee has been formed under Rule 237 of the Assembly's Rules of Procedure. Provincial Law Minister Aftab Alam has been appointed as chairman of the special committee.
According to the notification, the committee members include MPAs Tariq Saeed, Malik Adil Iqbal, Muhammad Israr, Asif Khan, Abdul Ghani, Fazal Ilahi, Samiullah, Tariq Mahmood, Ahmad Karim Kundi, Adnan Khan, Arbab Muhammad Wasim, Muhammad Nisar, Sajjadullah, and Muhammad Rashad Khan.
The special committee will conduct a comprehensive inquiry into the incidents that took place at Radio Pakistan Peshawar on May 9 and 10, 2023. It will examine the causes, reasons, and circumstances surrounding the incident and determine whether it was the result of any organized conspiracy. The committee will also review the role of law enforcement agencies and any alleged excesses, along with other related matters.
After collecting evidence and completing its investigation, the committee will submit a detailed report to the provincial assembly. The report will include recommendations for future guidelines and policy formulation, which will subsequently be presented before the provincial cabinet.
The notification regarding the formation of the special committee has been issued by Speaker of the K-P Assembly, Babar Saleem Swati.
