Terrorist commander killed in Lakki IBO
In a major counterterrorism success, the Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) and police killed a most-wanted terrorist commander during a joint operation in Lakki Marwat district.
The slain militant, identified as Commander Barkat alias Barkati alias Abu Zar, was a key leader and facilitator of terrorist groups operating under multiple aliases. He was wanted in more than 10 serious cases, including terrorism, attacks on security forces, murder, attempted murder, and extortion.
According to police, targeted operations are underway across Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa on the special directives of Inspector General of Police to eliminate terrorism at its roots. In continuation of these efforts, CTD Special Weapons and Tactics teams, along with local police and peace committees, carried out a decisive operation against Fitna-al-Khawarij in the Wanda Amir Khan area under the leadership DPO Lakki Marwat Nazir Khan.
During the operation, Commander Barkat and his accomplices opened fire on the police party. In the ensuing exchange, the commander was killed. His body and weapons were recovered, while his associates escaped and are being pursued. Regional Police Officer Sajjad Khan lauded the forces and peace committees, reaffirming the resolve to restore lasting peace in Lakki.
