RAWALPINDI:

A case has been registered against six people for bribing the food department staff on the motorway within the limits of Airport police station.

According to the police, food inspector Mian Khawar said that he was present on the motorway M-1 with the team when he received a call. An unknown caller said that they must let his trucks full of flour pass through the monitoring post without a permit and offered them a huge bribe in return.

When Khawar refused, the person on the other end started threatening him further and proceeded to call him multiple times. However, despite Khawar's clear refusal, the caller said that he would take the truck by force and said that if anything were to happen, the food inspector would be responsible for the 'consequences'.

After some time, a truck with number 3322C arrived at the post and only stopped after the inspection team insisted a number of times. The driver said his name was Qasim Ayaz, and the person with him said he was Naveed Khan. When asked, they were unable to present any e-permit/delivery order or license.

While inspection was ongoing, a car arrived at the check post and stopped near the team. Four unknown men got out of the car and offered Inspector Khawar a huge sum of money as bribe.
