Selena Gomez shrugs off speculation about her voice: "I don’t really care"
The "Single Soon" singer says that her "throat kind of swells inside sometimes"

Selena Gomez, 33, took to Instagram Live on December 16 to answer some of the questions of her fans and she was soon asked by a fan about why her voice has sounded different in recent years.
“Yeah I’ve gotten this question a few times. The voice thing,” she said before pausing and adding, “There’s no excuse. I don’t really care.”
Gomez went on to describe what can affect her voice, saying, “I think my point is, is that sometimes things happen. I get weird. My throat kind of swells inside sometimes. That’s all.” She spoke candidly about how her throat can change, making clear she doesn’t take the speculation to heart.

The singer and actress has been open in recent years about her health challenges, including lupus and bipolar disorder, which have influenced both her life and her approach to public scrutiny. Her willingness to discuss these topics publicly has helped her connect with fans who appreciate her transparency.
Gomez’s candid remarks reflect a broader message about accepting the unpredictable aspects of life and health, even amid widespread public attention. She has emphasised that she won’t let outside commentary dictate her self-image or confidence, and encouraged others to embrace authenticity, even when things don’t always go as expected.
