‘The Rookie’ season 8 trailer sends John Nolan overseas for high-stakes Prague mission
Nathan Fillion’s The Rookie heads to Prague in season 8, featuring an explosive international mission

ABC has released the first trailer for the upcoming season of the police procedural, which finds John Nolan (Nathan Fillion) and his team involved in an international operation that takes them to Prague.
The new footage teases a globe-spanning storyline packed with explosives, covert alliances and lingering trust issues.
The trailer opens with tension surrounding Monica Stevens (Bridget Regan), whose motives remain questionable despite her claim that she’s helping law enforcement dismantle a powerful weapons trafficking network. As the LAPD partners with the FBI and Interpol, Nolan makes it clear that sightseeing is off the table during what he calls a full-scale international sting.

Alongside the overseas mission, the season hints at personal upheaval back home, including a possible career move for Bailey Nune (Jenna Dewan) and the return of familiar adversary Oscar Hutchinson (Matthew Glave).
The teaser also suggests political ambitions and emotional fallout as the operation escalates.
The season premiere, titled “Czech Mate,” follows US and international agencies as they pursue high-value terrorist targets operating across borders.
The Rookie season 8 premieres Jan. 6, 2026, on ABC, with episodes available on Hulu the following day.
