Trey Songz arrested after alleged nightclub assault in New York
Trey Songz was arrested in Manhattan after allegedly damaging property and assaulting a man at two New York venues

Trey Songz has been arrested and charged in New York following two separate incidents that allegedly took place at Manhattan nightlife venues earlier this month. The singer, whose real name is Tremaine Neverson, was taken into custody on Sunday and later arraigned in court, where he was released pending further proceedings.
According to police reports and court documents, Songz allegedly caused damage at a Midtown hookah lounge called Mira during an incident that occurred in the early hours of Sunday morning. Authorities claim the singer destroyed multiple items inside the venue, including hookahs, DJ equipment and furniture. The alleged damage was valued at over $1,500, leading to a felony charge of criminal mischief.
In addition to the alleged property destruction, Songz was also charged in connection with a separate incident that reportedly occurred on December 4 at DRAMMA, a two-story nightclub located in Times Square. Prosecutors allege that during that incident, Songz punched another man in the face. As a result, he is facing several misdemeanor charges related to assault and harassment.
Songz appeared in court on Sunday, where he was formally arraigned and released on his own recognisance. A court date has been scheduled for February. If convicted on the felony count related to the alleged property damage, he could face a prison sentence of up to seven years.
His attorney, Mitchell Schuster, confirmed the charges in a statement and said that Songz is cooperating with authorities. Regarding the alleged assault earlier this month, Schuster stated that his client looks forward to the facts emerging. Addressing the hookah lounge incident, the attorney claimed that Songz was confronted by individuals who allegedly instigated the situation and attempted to surround him, with security stepping in as tensions escalated.
The arrest has prompted renewed discussion online, with users reacting strongly across social platforms. Some expressed frustration, pointing to Songz’s long history of legal disputes, while others urged caution and stressed that the allegations have not yet been proven in court. Several users criticised the continued pattern of alleged incidents, while others argued that celebrities are often targeted in high profile settings.
Songz has previously faced legal issues, including a 2017 conviction related to an altercation with a police officer and multiple civil lawsuits over the years. He has also been named in past investigations involving alleged altercations following performances, though not all resulted in charges.
At present, the case remains ongoing, with further developments expected when Songz returns to court in February.
