Pakistan Railways on Saturday announced a minor delay in the departure of the Karakoram Express from Lahore, while confirming that most other trains to Karachi, Quetta, Rawalpindi and other cities are operating on schedule.

According to the Divisional Superintendent Office, the Karakoram Express (42-Down) bound for Karachi will now depart at 4.15pm, instead of its scheduled 3.00pm, due to a delay of one hour and 15 minutes.

The Pak Business Express (34-Down) to Karachi is set to leave Lahore at its scheduled time of 4.30pm, while the Karachi Express (16-Down) will depart on time at 6.00pm.

Railway officials said all remaining trains travelling to Karachi, Quetta, Rawalpindi and other destinations are running according to their normal timetables.

On the directions of Divisional Superintendent Railways Lahore Inamullah, passenger facilitation staff will remain available at stations around the clock to assist travellers.

Passengers have been advised to seek further updates through Railway Inquiry numbers 117-042 and 042-99070011.

Earlier, Pakistan Railways continued to face frequent accidents, yet measures to prevent such incidents remain grossly inadequate.

According to officials, the administration’s focus has largely shifted towards beautifying railway stations and upgrading train coaches, while critical recommendations made by inquiry committees have been ignored.

Officers and staff members found responsible in various investigations have reportedly faced no action and continue to serve without consequence.

As a result, passengers remain vulnerable while those tasked with ensuring safety remain undisturbed.
