HBO and Crave have renewed Heated Rivalry for a second season following strong ratings and critical acclaim

HBO and Crave have officially renewed the hit series Heated Rivalry for a second season, following strong viewership and critical acclaim.
The announcement coincides with a set of promotional images and a video message shared by the show’s stars, celebrating the series’ success with fans.
Premiering on HBO Max in late November, Heated Rivalry quickly gained attention for its compelling storytelling and on-screen chemistry between Hudson Williams’ Shane Hollander and Connor Storrie’s Ilya Grigoryevich Rozanov. Critics praised the series, earning it a 95% approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes. Audiences have also responded positively to the show’s mix of romance, rivalry, and high-stakes professional sports drama.
Set across multiple timelines, the series begins in 2008, following Shane and Ilya as rookies navigating the challenges of professional league careers while contending with societal pressures and homophobia. Their push-pull romantic relationship adds emotional depth to the sports-centered narrative, highlighting both personal and professional conflicts.
Created and directed by Jacob Tierney, Heated Rivalry is based on Rachel Reid’s Game Changers book series. The ensemble cast includes François Arnaud, Robbie G.K., Dylan Walsh, Kolton Stewart, Sophie Nélisse, Ksenia Daniela Kharlamova, and Christina Chang, each contributing to the series’ dramatic and engaging storytelling.
While a release date for Season 2 has not yet been announced, fans can stream the first season now on HBO Max and Crave. The renewal ensures that the story of Shane and Ilya, and their journey through love, rivalry, and professional sports, will continue to captivate audiences in the coming year.
