Former England footballer Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain has opened up for the first time about the emotional pain he and fiancée Perrie Edwards faced after suffering two heartbreaking pregnancy losses, including a miscarriage at around 24 weeks.

In a candid reflection, Oxlade-Chamberlain revealed that the couple experienced an early miscarriage followed by a second, late-term loss that he described as “incredibly difficult” and far more devastating because of how far along the pregnancy was. He spoke about the intense emotional attachment that grows as the weeks pass, explaining that losing a baby so late brings a different kind of grief — one filled with plans made, hopes built and a future imagined.

Oxlade-Chamberlain acknowledged that, as the partner, his role was to remain calm and supportive, highlighting how deeply the loss affected Perrie physically and emotionally. He said watching her navigate that pain was heartbreaking, and he praised her strength in coping with such trauma while still being an incredible mother to their son Axel.

Despite the devastating experience, he expressed gratitude that Edwards is now pregnant again, calling the news a “blessing” after a long and emotionally challenging journey. He noted that while the joy is immense, pregnancy after loss brings its own anxieties — but the couple are focusing on hope, healing and looking ahead to welcoming their new baby.

Oxlade-Chamberlain’s decision to speak publicly aims to shed light on the emotional reality of miscarriage, especially late-term loss, and to help reduce the stigma around men expressing grief and vulnerability during such experiences.
