Iain Armitage, best known for starring in CBS’ hit series Young Sheldon, is set to return to the network in a surprising new role.

The actor will appear as a heightened version of himself in an upcoming episode of the CBS comedy Ghosts. According to CBS, Armitage will take part in a high-stakes poker game at the show’s iconic mansion, bringing a meta twist to the fan-favorite supernatural sitcom. The episode begins filming today and is scheduled to air on April 16, 2026.

Armitage rose to fame portraying young Sheldon Cooper for seven seasons until the show concluded in May 2024. Before that, he launched his career on HBO’s acclaimed drama Big Little Lies. His film credits include Netflix’s Our Souls at Night, Lionsgate’s The Glass Castle, and the indie drama I’m Not Here. He is also known for his voice work as young Shaggy in Scoob! and Chase in Paramount’s Paw Patrol animated feature.

The actor’s work has earned him nominations for a Critics Choice Award and a Teen Choice Award. He was also part of the SAG-nominated ensemble cast of Big Little Lies.

Now in its fifth season, Ghosts continues to be one of CBS’ strongest comedic performers. The ensemble cast includes Rose McIver, Utkarsh Ambudkar, Danielle Pinnock, Brandon Scott Jones, and Richie Moriarty. The series is produced by CBS Studios, Lionsgate Television, and BBC Studios Los Angeles Productions, with Joe Port and Joe Wiseman serving as showrunners.

Armitage is represented by Jamie Pillet at WME and Ryan LeVine at Jackoway Austen Tyerman.
