Influencer Stacey Hatfield died from postpartum complications after home birth
Coroner confirms postpartum haemorrhage as the cause of death of influencer

Australian wellness influencer Stacey Hatfield, also known as Stacey Warnecke, tragically passed away following severe complications during a home birth. On September 29, 2025, Hatfield gave birth to her first child at home in what was reported as a “freebirth,” a birth without the presence of a registered medical professional.
Initially appearing well, Hatfield’s condition rapidly deteriorated after passing the placenta, prompting her to call for help. Paramedics found her in distress and rushed her to the hospital, where, despite emergency interventions including a hysterectomy, she suffered multiple cardiac arrests and was pronounced dead around 11 a.m. local time.
Hatfield, 30, was the founder of the lifestyle brand Natural Spoonfuls, which focused on toxin-free living, wholesome eating, and wellness content, and she had amassed a significant social media following. She had been married to Nathan Warnecke for less than a year, and the couple had known each other for nine years prior; the child born during the home birth was their first.
The presence of a birth support worker, Emily Lal, at the home birth has led to an investigation by Victoria’s Health Complaints Commissioner, and Lal has been temporarily banned from providing healthcare. The coroner, Therese McCarthy, confirmed that the cause of death was severe postpartum haemorrhage, and a full hearing is expected in March 2026.
Hatfield’s untimely passing has devastated her family and online community, with friends launching fundraising efforts to support her husband and newborn son. Her legacy as a wellness advocate and social media influencer continues to resonate with followers around the world.
